Crossroads Care Surrey’s Wear a woolly hat appeal to support unpaid carers

We are excited to announce the launch of our Wear a woolly hat appeal, running from Saturday 2nd November to Friday 8th November 2024. This event invites everyone to wear a woolly hat in support of unpaid carers across Surrey.

The Wear a woolly hat appeal celebrates the 60th anniversary of the iconic British soap opera Crossroads, from which our charity derives our name. First aired on 2nd November 1964, the show features Benny, a beloved character famous for wearing his signature beanie hat. By wearing a woolly hat, participants can help raise awareness and funds to support those who dedicate their lives to caring for loved ones.

David Annand, Fundraising Manager at Crossroads Care Surrey, stated “The Wear a woolly hat appeal is a simple and meaningful way for people of all ages, everywhere, to show their appreciation for the incredible unpaid carers across Surrey and the vital care they provide. While caring for a loved one is a privilege, it can also be a difficult and isolating experience. It is often a long, hard and lonely journey. By wearing a woolly hat and donating, you can help us continue to offer the essential support these carers need to keep going.”
