Chair of Trustees

Business Development Trustee

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join our board who can help to develop and realise our vision by proposing ideas and establishing new concepts when it comes to developing business opportunities and maximising income generation. 

We encourage candidates who can help increase the diversity of the Board to make our organisation more inclusive – especially those who have an interest in making a difference to the lives of unpaid carers across Surrey.

We need someone who lives in the county of Surrey (or the surrounding area) who has a background/knowledge and skills in the areas of: Business Development; Senior Sales Management: Enterprise; Corporate Social Responsibility; Company Sponsorship; Corporate Sponsorship, the Business Development Trustee will play an important, entrepreneurial role within the board, scoping out opportunity and seeking to make connections between Crossroads Care Surrey and other public, private, charitable and academic organisations.

  • To assist the board to develop a corporate relationship strategy
  • To assist in developing a fundraising and income generation strategy and action plan
  • To oversee ideas and areas for corporate and business support
  • Experience at senior level of having either developed, or managed a successful business and demonstrable entrepreneurial expertise
  • A good understanding of business and companies and how they can support charitable activities
  • A good understanding of sponsorship and other resource generation opportunities and business development
  • Creating sales forecasts and managing the delivery of sales targets
  • Proven track record for generating revenue through new business development
  • Experience of building partnerships and conducting sales campaigns
  • Experience of project planning and delivery, including monitoring and evaluation, and working to targets.
  • Excellent networking, influencing and communication skills
  • High level knowledge and contacts within a business community

Bank Live-in Carer Support Worker

Salary: From £1,100 per week depending on client level

Location: Surrey and borders

Hours: Bank/Zero hours

As a Live-In Carer, you will provide high-quality, personalised care and support to clients in their own homes. You will live with the client and assist with daily activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This role requires a compassionate individual with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to improving the lives of others.

  • Provide personal care, including bathing and dressing with dignity and respect
  • To support children, young adults and adults with a wide range of care and support needs
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment as needed
  • Administer medication as prescribed
  • Prepare and serve meals, considering dietary requirements
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning and laundry
  • Offer companionship and emotional support to clients
  • Assist with shopping, errands, and appointments
  • Maintain accurate records of care on our online system report any changes in the client’s condition
  • Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and healthcare professionals
  • Ensure the client’s home environment is safe and comfortable
  • Previous experience in a support role, preferably as a live-in carer
  • Relevant qualifications in health and social care (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Flexibility to adapt to the client’s needs and preferences
  • Valid driver’s license (preferred but not essential)

Level 1 Clients – Domestic and Social Assistance

To ensure that the support required, as directed in the care plan are delivered in a person-centred manner that promotes dignity, respect and independence:

  • To assist clients who need help with domestic duties such as dusting, vacuuming, bed making, laundry and ironing
  • To assist with household duties such as menu planning, meal preparation for clients and their visitors, looking after household pets (feeding), household plants etc.
  • To assist clients with financial matters and money management including shopping, pension collection, payment of bills on behalf of the clients etc.
  • To assist clients with correspondence, arrangements for outings and visitors
  • Driving duties and assisting the clients in using public transport
  • Attending social outings with clients such as places of worship, regular clubs, visiting family, friends etc.
  • Assisting the clients to fulfil activities of daily living, eg. working, leisure and education

 

Level 2 Clients – Domestic and Personal Care – to include all tasks from level 1

To ensure that the support required, as directed in the care plan are delivered in a person-centred manner that promotes dignity, respect and independence:

  • To assist clients who need help with getting up in the morning, dressing, undressing etc.
  • To assist clients who need support with aspects of their personal care help with washing, bathing, showering, hair care, shaving, oral hygiene etc.
  • To assist clients with toilet functions – ie. using the toilet or commode, emptying and cleansing the commode
  • To assist the clients with prescribed medication only – no homely remedies unless risk assessed and approved by Care Operations Manager
  • To support clients with nutrition and hydration, which includes physically supporting with food & drink intake
  • To assist clients with mobilising and transferring
  • To give support to the family and other carers
  • To assist in looking after pets e.g. feeding and walking

 

Level 3 Clients – Complex Care – to include all actions from level 1 & 2

To ensure that the support required, as directed in the care plan are delivered in a person-centred manner that promotes dignity, respect and independence:

  • Positive Behaviour Support
  • Peg Feeding
  • Stoma Care
  • Epilepsy – that requires emergency medication administering
  • Remain committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of adults with care and support needs
  • Work at all times within the philosophy and policies of Crossroads Care
  • Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and with Crossroads Care Surrey’s Health & Safety policy, paying particular attention to the reporting of dangerous situations

Essential

Qualifications

  • Excellent standard of written English, numeracy, and IT literacy
  • Ability to work within a role in Care and towards the Care Certificate within first 6 months of employment (excluding those who are already qualified)
  • NVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care (to qualify for the Qualified Carer Support Worker role)

Experience and Skills

  • Experience of providing care to people with wide ranging care and support needs
  • Experience of following risk assessments and care plans
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with team members, carers and people with care and support needs, while maintaining appropriate personal boundaries

Carer Support Worker

Salary: £13.97 p/h weekdays, £15.97 p/h weekends

Location: Surrey 

Hours: minimum 14 hours per week

A key part of our service delivery provision is to offer respite breaks to carers in their own homes, with visit times ranging from 1.5 hours to full days and, occasionally, overnight.  Our core visit times are 3.5 hours, from 9.30am to 1pm, and 2pm to 5.30pm.

Comprehensive induction training will be provided.

  • To offer carers a respite break from their caring duties
  • To support children, young adults and adults with a wide range of care and support needs, to allow their carers to have a break
  • To provide care and support within the carer/client’s own home or within the local community (dependent on a community visits risk assessment)
  • Provide personal care with dignity and respect
  • Provide client-led activities that promote personal skills and independence
  • Respond to clients’ health and medication needs – this may include the administration of medication and deployment of specialist clinical tasks (where you have been given full training and competency checks)
  • Ensuring all clients receive prompt and safe personal care; this may include but is not restricted to assisted toileting, bed changes, catheter bag drainage and supporting with eating and drinking (including adapted diets)
  • Assisting with dressing / undressing, choice of clothes and personal appearance
  • Planning and providing client-led activities
  • Taking clients out into the community where a full risk assessment has been completed
  • Helping the client to prepare food and drinks
  • Supporting the client to take their medication in a person-centred way
  • Undertaking specialist medical tasks as agreed and after appropriate training
  • Assisting with mobility, including the use of wheelchairs
  • Providing emotional support and companionship to carers and clients
  • Carrying out basic first aid and notifying emergency services where necessary.
  • Reporting any safeguarding concerns to your Client Portfolio Manager or Area Manager
  • Ensuring Infection Prevention & Control guidance is followed e.g. using PPE effectively
  • Following client care plans and risk assessments
  • Reporting any accidents or incidents via the ACP app, and escalating any concerns to your Client Portfolio Manager or Area Manager, including any change in care and support needs
  • Helping complete basic domestic tasks around the home, for example: washing up, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom or doing laundry.You may also be asked to assist with basic pet care e.g. letting the pet out into the garden

Care Service Manager

Salary: Circa £28,840 pa

Location: Leatherhead, Surrey (hybrid/community based)

Hours: 35 hours per week

As a Service Manager, you will lead a dedicated team of Carer Support Workers to ensure the highest standards of care. You are the link between our frontline staff and our mission to support unpaid carers.

  • Team Leadership: Manage recruitment, inductions, supervisions, and staff meetings for your sector
  • Rostering: Maximise resources through efficient scheduling and timesheet approval
  • Care Quality: Conduct assessments for new clients and perform “spot checks” to ensure documentation meets high standards
  • Safeguarding: Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns and incident reporting
  • Performance: Monitor staff attendance and submit weekly sector performance reports to the Senior Service Manager
  • Competitive Pay: £28,840 base salary
  • Mileage Allowance: 45p per mile for travel across Surrey
