At Crossroads we need your help year round

We truly appreciate the commitment every volunteer makes to help us realise our vision for every carer to be recognised, supported and offered services to help them maintain their own health and well-being.

Whether you give your precious time to work directly with the people we support, volunteer your skills, or fundraise. It doesn’t matter whether you give a little or a lot, what matters is you care.  On behalf of those we care for and their carers who deserve a break from caring, thank you for considering a volunteer role with us.

Because of you, carers can keep caring.

There’s a volunteer role to suit everyone, why not apply for one of our roles listed below.

Volunteer Roles

Why not work directly with those we help (carers and those most vulnerable living on their own).

Or volunteer for a role supporting the charity behind the scenes – help to raise awareness and support Crossroads to build new relationships in the community to grow fundraising income.

Full training and a DBS check will be included depending on the role applied for.

Befriending by Phone

Could you support people who care for loved ones with companionship during respite? We’re looking for volunteers who understand how caring can impact people’s lives; someone who will take time out to listen, understand and be a friend for carers who simply need a break. Caring can be exhausting and socially isolating – could you give our Carers your time by providing telephone or video call befriending support?

Companionship in the Home

Carers we help need support with their loved ones at various stages of care giving. Can you help give someone with care needs time, by just being a companion and helping with simple care tasks for a few hours each week? You will engage the cared-for person in conversation or activities such as puzzles, games, crosswords, soduku, garden centre visits and coffee shop trips.

Community Support Volunteer

Throughout Covid-19 we have been supporting carers, their loved ones and vulnerable or at-risk people who have been shielding because of age or illness with essential food shopping, prescription medication collections and more. From our research, we know the shopping service has made an impact, benefiting people who really do need to continue to rely on our support going forward – can you be part of making a difference to someone’s life?
